Ellen’s pond is teeming with life all year long. In the spring, the pond hosts many waterfowl that are nesting and migrating through the area. It has minnows, frogs, turtles, beavers, and muskrats. In the summer, hundreds of birds and animals are drawn to it’s veritable smorgasbord of insects, frogs, grasses, and flowers. Pollinators like bees and butterflies rely on it for nectar. In the fall, hundreds of migrating ducks, geese and swans pause for a day or two to gain strength for the next leg of their journeys. In the winter, the pond becomes a new crossroads for fox, coyotes, and other predators looking for small animals and birds. Deer are drawn to the spring which feeds the pond for water.
